Printed judgements in legal procedures started against farmers and citizens of the Brabant country site by their rulers concerning the payment of tithes on the growing of potatoes. This was in the 1760's a new crop and it was felt by the growers that it should not be included in the old tax rules. Among the plaintiffs we find the abbot of St. Bernardus (Hemiksem), the abbess of Vorst , the Chapter of Saint Gertrudis (Nivelles) , The abbey of Perck & Everboden , the Archbisshop of Mechelen as abbott of Affligem, the dean of Brussels cathedral...
