A singularly talented man, Moritz established his own Amsterdam-based design studio in 1970. His views on tactility and sense of textile quality were ahead of his time. Already in 1982 he remarked: "A product must be more than purely a technical solution of a problem. It should offer some kind of experience. Aesthetic and sensual aspects should receive at least as much attention as technical features." The press widely applauded the 'non- Dutch' elegance, the technical refinement and innovative use of material of his textile designs. Moritz also repeatedly evoked surprise with his wall coverings and carpets, through the choice of materials and development of new concepts. His clients include reputable Dutch and international companies including M.I.D. Intair, Interlübke, Felice Rossi, Oliver Treutlein, Marburg and Danskina. Since 1986 he designs a textile collection under his own name for the German Sahco Hesslein. Moritz was head of the 'Man and Identity' department at the Design Academy Eindhoven from 1971 to 2004.
