Description: S. Hooper, 1783 - 1784. half leather. 8vo. A private gathering of 49 copper engraved plates, all published by S. Hooper in 1783, 1874. Roughly half of the plates are with tissue guards. 2 of the plates are plans, the remainder are views of English castles, catherdrals and ruins.At least a number of the plates come from Grose's Antiquities of England and Wales. Although Grose's innovation was to publish text accompanying the plates with views of (the remains) of medieval England, only the plates are presented in this unique collection.The title is taken from the title ticket on the spine, since no title page is presented.
